Texas Legislative ALERT
H.B. No. 2294
As you have seen on the recent ACCA-Texas Legislative alerts, there is a bill currently filed in the Texas House of Representatives that would remove thermostats as part of the HVAC/R system and allow for any persons to install, maintain and repair this vital component.
ACCA-Texas is OPPOSED to this legislation and has testified on your behalf before the Texas House Committee on Licensing and Administrative Procedures in opposition to this bill.
The Licensing and Administrative Procedures Committee has chosen to ignore the facts and passed HB 2294 out of Committee. It is now before the Calendars Committee with the possibility of making to the House of Representatives for a potential vote. WE NEED TO STOP THIS BILL IMMEDIATELY! PLEASE CALL THE CALENDARS COMMITTEE MEMBERS BELOW!
We have also attached a White Paper on talking points you can use as to why installation of the thermostat is a vitally important aspect of the HVAC/R system and requires a licensed Texas ACR contractor to install, maintain and repair.
Again, we need your help in fighting the ridiculous notion that a thermostat is NOT PART of the HVAC/R system and that an HVAC/R license is not required to install, maintain or repair this component. Please contact the Committee members below and voice your opposition to HB 2294 and ask them not to set HB 2294!
